Living The Christian Life Is Impossible
Yes, the title of this blog is true! Living the Christian Life is Impossible, if you try to do this by your own strength. Can I be blunt? Today, many so-called Christians try to overcome their challenges to become better people by changing their thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes toward God and others. However, this often leads to frustration, anxiety, anger, and even bitterness towards God. Doing it this way is a recipe for disaster. And the only one who wins with this approach is the enemy.
One thing that gives me a great deal of angst is how many people are led to believe that if you pray a prayer of incantation (A conventionalized utterance repeated without thought or aptness, a formula.), you are all set and obtain your get-out-of-jail-free card. In other words, you avoid Hell.
Many of today's churches, including mainline denominations, are hindering their attendees, members, parishioners, and what have you, from becoming true "Born Again" believers, which is imperative to have a genuine loving relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ! I am not just talking about 10s of thousands; I am talking about millions of people who are self-professed Christians right here in America. Why is this taking place? I believe this could be from faulty teaching, man-made rules, and doctrines that have crept into some denominations and church leaders who want to keep attendance high by preaching what the people want to hear instead of telling them of Biblical absolute truth.
[Jhn 3:3-5 ESV] 3Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."
If you look at the Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures, one common theme stands out: it takes a loving, believing loyalty relationship from us to God. God has already completed this on His end, but He invites us to reciprocate this loving, believing loyalty to Him. The Old Testament points out that the Israelites failed in this miserably. If you don't think so, look at their exile. They partook in idolatry, placing other gods before the True God, Yahweh. Remember now that God IS love, not an emotion or thought, but actual love. God has even given us faith to have faith in Him. It is not our faith but the faith He gives us that makes this happen.
This brings us to the "almost too good to be true Gospel" of Jesus Christ. Looking at human relationships between immediate family members, marriage partners, and friends, it takes two to grow from the beginning into a relationship of trust and love. The same is true between us and our Lord Jesus Christ. The fantastic news is that Jesus is extending His hand out to everyone! We have to grab it and hold on to it with all we have.
[Jhn 10:27-28 ESV] 27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand."
Now, another Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, brings us into a deeper, more intimate relationship with God. This relationship is where true transformation takes place from the inside out. In Zechariah, we see that God is not only speaking through him to Zerubbabel but also through the author. He is also speaking this to us today.
[Zec 4:6 NKJV] "So he answered and said to me: This [is] the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the LORD of hosts."
This is how it is done: through the power of our God, not human strength but His Spirit, which is such wonderful news! Through His power and strength we have a deeper, more meaningful relationship with our Lord and Savior. I want to follow up with Scripture verses that help us ask Him to send His Holy Spirit into our lives.
[Luk 11:11-13 ESV] "11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
If you are in a church that does not teach what is explained above, or if you are looking for a place where we are called to be the Church, in our Lord Jesus Christ, please, please consider joining our Revolutionary event, which you can find at this link.
We will discuss George Barna's groundbreaking book Revolutionary. This book shows that a revolution is already taking place within the church—one that will affect every believer in America. We hope to see you there!
I want to be a part of the Revolution!
